Winter vacations have been extended in view of growing winter in Haryana. At the same time, in view of the cold and foggy weather, schools in many states, including Delhi-NCR, remain closed till January 15.

Winter vacation in Haryana has been extended till January 21. In an official order, the Department of School Education said that in view of severe cold, all government and private schools in the state will remain closed till January 21. Schools will reopen on January 23 (Monday). But for class 10th and 12th Board Exam In view of this, the classes will resume as per the pre-scheduled schedule. Entire North India including Delhi-NCR is facing cold wave today.
Due to the cold wave, winter holidays were declared in many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, while holidays were also extended in many states. School remains closed till January 15 due to cold and foggy weather. Schools are scheduled to reopen on January 16, 2023. However, the winter vacation is unlikely to be extended considering the drop in temperature and the weather department’s forecast for next week.
The weather is going to get worse
Winter weather is also expected to worsen. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region for the next two days. The IMD said cold front and dense fog are likely in some parts of North India, including the capital Delhi.
The IMD tweeted, ‘Heavy rain/snowfall likely to occur over Western Himalayan region between January 11 to 13, 2023. Scattered rain is also likely over the surrounding plains. Schools have been closed in many places due to severe cold in northern India. Besides, winter vacation has also been extended in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab.
Will the holidays increase in Delhi-NCR?
Temperatures in the plains including Delhi-NCR continue to drop due to snowfall in the hills. It is said that after January 14, there is going to be a strong return of cold flow in Delhi. During this time, the temperature can reach 2 to 3 degrees. The maximum temperature is expected to be up to 15 degrees. If this happens, it is expected that the winter vacation in Delhi-NCR may be extended. A decision may also be made regarding leave today or tomorrow.
