Gameberry’s Revenue From Operations Grew
Self-funded game publisher Gameberry had significant expansion in size over the previous two fiscal years (FY22 and FY23), although revenue collections increased by just 13%. The company’s profit dropped by 65% in FY21 even though it had grown by 4X in scale thanks to a sharp increase in employee benefits and advertising expenses. According to Ahmad, Gameberry claims to have 22 million monthly active users (MAUs) and 60,000–70,000 monthly transactional users (MTUs). In FY23, the company’s revenue reached Rs 314 crore, and it declared a profit of Rs 65 crore. With revenue of Rs 259 crore, Gameberry had a profit of Rs 93 crore in the preceding fiscal year, FY22.
In comparison to Rs 259 crore in FY22, Gameberry’s revenue from operations increased by 21.2% to Rs 314 crore in the fiscal year that ended in March 2023, according to the consolidated financial statement that was filed with the Registrar of Companies. Three games are hosted by the company: Parchisi Star, Ludo Star, and Ludo Titan. The majority of Gameberry’s income comes from in-app purchases, which increased by 29% over the course of the fiscal year. The company’s advertising revenue continued to grow flat in FY23. The Bengaluru-based company also made gains on non-operating financial assets (interest) totalling Rs 14.8 crore. Remarkably, 99.8% of Gameberry’s operating income came from outside of India.
According to TheKredible, Gameberry’s employee benefits costs increased dramatically by 4.5X during the fiscal year, from Rs 22.7 crore in FY22 to Rs 102.7 crore. Due to the absence of an employee share-based payment of Rs 53.7 crore in FY22, there was a significant increase in employee expenditures in FY23. The company’s expenses for platform hosting and payment facilitation increased by 42% to Rs 71.5 crore in the fiscal year, while spending for advertising and promotion also increased. The company’s overall spending increased dramatically, rising from Rs 142 crore in FY22 to Rs 278 crore in FY23, a 95.8% increase.
