In response, the Trinamool Congress also made noise in the assembly. BJP MLAs walk out from the assembly.
In a party meeting at Ratua in Malda on Sunday, Savitri was heard saying, “Prime Minister, Home Minister and BJP leaders are like Duryodhana and misrule and their job is to take away women’s clothes.” Apart from this, Savitri claimed that Gujarat has no contribution to the country’s independence. The BJP condemned the comments.
BJP MLAs have created a ruckus in the assembly
The Speaker rejected the proposal and said it was a matter for the government. After that the BJP MLAs started rioting. BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul sparred between the speakers. Savitri Mitra then said that the Leader of the Opposition misinterpreted her statement. I never said that the people of Gujarat did not participate in the freedom struggle. He said two came from Gujarat, they had no role in the freedom movement. After this the legislators of the assembly started ruckus and then they walked out from the assembly proceedings.
Agnimitra said it was shameful to say that Gujaratis did not contribute to the freedom movement.
Agnimitra said that an FIR will be filed in different police stations in Savitri’s name. The MLA from Asansol South said, “How dare the Prime Minister and the Home Minister say this. He should apologize. We want punishment. Where do they get courage from? Mamata Banerjee is giving courage. He said, Savitri Mitra is saying that Gujarati has no contribution in freedom movement. It’s shameful. A few days ago, Trinamool MLA from Ramnagar and Minister of State for Prisons Akhil Giri made derogatory remarks about the President of the country, Draupadi Murmu. There was a lot of fuss about it. FIRs have been registered in many police stations. Finally, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee apologized to the party MLA at a press conference in Navanna. After that controversy, BJP is now protesting Savitri’s comments.
