On April 21, Fathima Ismail, who was the mother of veteran Malayalam actor Mammootty, passed away in Kochi, at the age of 93. She spent some time receiving therapy for age-related issues before passing away at a private hospital. According to family members, the funeral will take place in the evening at the Juma Masjid in Chembu, Vaikom. In addition to Mr. Mammootty, she is survived by her daughters Ameena, Sauda, and Shafeena, as well as sons Zakkaria and actor Ibrahim Kutty. The MP Shashi Tharoor expressed his sorrow over her passing on social media.
