Well, one such retirement is in the news which makes fans very emotional and they are feeling sad after learning this news.
Why did Lol Bjergsen retire?
Yes, you are right, we are talking about Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg who is considered one of the most popular players in the history of League of Legends and has made his name in the annals of the North American (NA) League of Legends Championship Series (LCS). On Friday, 7th April 2023, Bjergsen declared that he has taken retirement from League of Legends and its esports scene. During his announcement, he also made it clear that his decision is not to do with 100 Thieves and its results in the LCS 2023 Spring Split. The report states that this marks the end of his around 1-decade professional career at the time in which he triumphed in multiple awards and commendations in the LCS.
After the announcement of Bjergsen, admirers of the esport and pros who have played with and against Bjergsen shared their feelings online and commemorated his storied career. It is not easy for him to say goodbye to his career and this moment is also emotional for his fans who want to know the reason for his decision. The player states that the thought of taking retirement has been on his mind for a quite long time and that is becoming pretty clear that he was playing this LCS Spring Split. He further states that there is no one reason for this decision.
He officially states that “This year playing with 100 Thieves is my eleventh year of playing and competing, which is a quite long time to be doing the same thing or working towards the same type of goal, being the same industry. I have been playing League of Legends for around half of my life at this point. Now I am planning to do something else in my life and feel like it is the right time to take retirement.” Speaking about his future plans, he stated he will not be taking up streaming or coaching right away and made it clear that he wanted to spend some quality time with family and pals.
You were always the player that kept pushing me to get better.
