In the World Cup 2023, Kohli displayed extraordinary fielding with two important catches, one diving left in order to dismiss Marsh from Jasprit Bumrah’s delivery and another off Adam Zampa which was bowled by Hardik Pandya. Recently, Virat Kohli was honored with a gold medal for his commendable fielding skills following India’s six-wicket victory over Australia in the fifth match of the ODI World Cup on Sunday presented by the Indian fielding coach, T Dilip in the Indian dressing room. However, the BCCI shared a behind-the-scenes video clip that captured the moment. During the medal presentation, the Indian fielding coach also taught the exceptional fielding efforts of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer. However, Dilip underscored the team’s focus was on constant and overall performance instead of missing out on one remarkable catch and this was the reason why Virat Kohli was picked as the recipient of the best fielding award.
The fielding coach, T Dilip said that primarily, they got this because they have been telling everyone that they need to have a best fielder of the match and at last, they got some token for the same. He added that he thought, in the game, Ishan would put up an outstanding effort but rather than that, Shreyas was amassing taking the lead in the two catches. However, something that they kept in mind was the team was consistence and this was just not about one catch, or one piece of fielding. Overall, he would like to encourage and keep the right fielders at the right place. Therefore, this particular thing caught the eye and went viral. Evidently, King Kohli showcased exceptional fielding skills with two important catches made during the match.
However, the first catch was a sincere effort to his left which took the wicket from Marsh and Jasprit Bumrah. On the other hand, his second catch came off Adam Zampa’s bat off a delivery by Hardik Pandya. Furthermore, Shreyas Iyer also made his mark in the field by grabbing two exceptional catches. In addition, Iyer managed to take a running catch which brought an end to Mitchell Starc’s impactful cameo. At the moment, the Indian Team is all set to travel for their next World Cup clash against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 11, 2023. Thank you for being a patient reader.
