Shubman Gill, an Indian batter who had been admitted for dengue treatment earlier on Sunday, October 8, has been released from the hospital in Chennai. Before India’s flight to Delhi for their match against Afghanistan, sources have verified to India Today that Gill’s platelet count decreased, and the player made a trip to a private hospital in Chennai for treatment.

“Shubman Gill’s platelet level fell, so as a precaution, he was admitted to a hospital in Chennai. The medical staff of the BCCI is also keeping an eye on him, sources told India Today. According to the PTI news agency, Shubman Gill was released from the Chennai hospital on Tuesday morning following his treatment. The little batter went back to the team hotel, where the BCCI medical staff would keep an eye on him. On October 11, India will play Afghanistan in New Delhi, and on Saturday, India and Pakistan will square off in Ahmedabad.

The batter would be in the care of the medical staff and would not be travelling to Delhi, according to a statement made earlier on Monday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Shubman Gill, the squad’s batsman, won’t be going to Delhi with the team on October 9, 2023. The team’s opening batter, who missed the team’s first game against Australia in Chennai as part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, is expected to miss the team’s upcoming game against Afghanistan on October 11.
