Reportedly, this statement came after President Cyril Ramaphosa told the two-day national executive committee of ANC, Lekgotla to draft a plan to fix Eskom and boost the economy. President also asked to deliver essential services ahead of the elections in 2024. It is speculated that he told the party’s top leaders that they would have to accept renewal as being “irreversible”, toe the party line and speak with one voice on important issues because the 2024 election campaign had already started.
