The Congress leadership, comprising former chairman Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge, met separately on Friday to evaluate the party’s showing in the just-finished assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The grand old party conducted a thorough review at the All India Congress Committee headquarters in Delhi following the unexpected defeat at the hands of the BJP. “A conference to discuss the Chhattisgarh election results was conducted today at the Congress headquarters in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge were among the senior Congress leaders present at this meeting, the party stated, posting images of the review meeting on the Chhattisgarh election results.

State Congress chiefs were directed to give a booth-by-booth report on the party’s performance, according to Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal, who made this announcement during the meeting over the results of the elections in Chhattisgarh. The party emphasised the necessity of fortifying ties with the people and declared its resolve to jointly contest the next Lok Sabha elections to topple the BJP administration. Kumari Selja, the AICC General Secretary responsible for Chhattisgarh, expressed regret but insisted that the party is not deterred. “Today, everyone voiced their opinions during a review meeting concerning the Chhattisgarh election results. Even though we lost the Chhattisgarh elections, our share of the vote has not decreased. The public now has more faith in us,” she declared.
Congress leaders engaged in a friendly discussion about the party’s faults and candid analysis of the reasons behind the defeat in Madhya Pradesh. The AICC’s general secretary-in-charge, Randeep Surjewala, emphasized the need for the organization to be strengthened and pleaded with the Congress president to call a gathering of the Congress Legislature Party in Madhya Pradesh so that the opposition leader could be chosen. Party chiefs Bhupesh Baghel, Ajay Maken, and K C Venugopal, the General Secretary of the AICC, were present at the review meetings in Chhattisgarh.
