During the assembly on August 31, some 30 pupils from Nirmala High School in NTR Circle reportedly got unwell after being forced to stand in the sun. The pupils became ill as a result of being forced to stand in the sun for an extended period of time, according to District Education Officer (DEO), C. V. Renuka. The tragedy happened as a result of a lack of knowledge regarding the potential health dangers linked to prolonged sun exposure. The school management has admitted their error and given their word that the appropriate steps will be taken to stop similar occurrences in the future. Additionally, in order to secure the pupils’ safety, they will make arrangements for indoor gatherings or give adequate shade.
Assemblies are now held indoors or in locations with shade thanks to policies the school administration has put in place to protect kids’ safety. A couple of the pupils in the queue of people waiting on the school grounds fainted and complained of headaches and giddiness. The employees at Nirmala High School claimed that during the assembly, a teacher’s retirement ceremony, the children were asked to wait. Several pupils abruptly collapsed while complaining of a precarious position.
As soon as the incident occurred, the school administration took action by alerting emergency services and giving the injured kids first aid. They have started an investigation to figure out what happened and stop such incidents from happening again. After learning of the situation, C. V. Renuka, the district’s education officer, and Suhasini, the district’s medical and health officer, hurried to the school with ambulances to treat the sick pupils. About 15 pupils received ORS and buttermilk after complaining of headache, fever, and giddiness. The students and their parents were sent home once they had recovered, according to the DEO. The students became ill as a result of having to spend more time in the sun, according to Ms. Renuka.
