Jamie Kah, a champion jockey, is under investigation after pictures of her with white powder surfaced. The 27-year-old recently declared her intention to resume racing after suffering brain damage in a fall in Victoria earlier this year. The Group 1 champion was left in an induced coma with blood on her brain after the terrible accident at Flemington in March. Before determining if Kah violated the prohibition on riders using illegal drugs while racing, Racing Victoria stewards are conducting inquiries. The champion is no new to controversy; in 2021, she was one of several jockeys given a three-month suspension for a party at an Airbnb in Mornington that violated Victoria’s lockdown laws.

The Victorian Jockey Association addressed the most recent controversy by stating that it is aware of the images and will assist the 27-year-old in any way she requires. Kah expressed her “disappointment” with the pictures on social media, but said that she is “determined to focus on my health and recovery following my race fall… which left me with a serious brain injury” instead. Kah recently resumed some track work, but she still needs to gain the all-clear to return to racing days after a neurological evaluation. Racing Victoria’s conclusions will now determine if Kah may return.
