The actress claimed that she had second thoughts about really getting married. Ini Edo wed American-based businessman Philip Ehiagwina on November 29, 2008, but their union lasted only five years before they got divorced in 2013. Ibibio from the state of Akwa Ibom in southern Nigeria, not far from Calabar, is Ini Edo. Her father served as a church elder, while her mother was a teacher. As the second of four children—three girls and one boy—Ini Edo experienced a harsh childhood.  In Uyo, Nigeria, she studied at Cornelia Connely College.
