The Delhi home of AAP politician Amanatullah Khan was raided by the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday in connection with a corruption case involving unauthorised nominations to the Delhi Waqf Board. Amanatullah Khan, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was the target of a money laundering raid on Tuesday by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Delhi. Based on two FIRs that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Delhi Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed, the ED has started taking action. The cases concern irregularities in the hiring process for the Delhi Waqf Board, whose head is Khan.
The Prevention of Money Laundering Act’s (PMLA) guidelines are being followed as the searches are being carried out. The same case led to the arrest of Amanatullah Khan, a 49-year-old member of the Delhi Assembly from the Okhla district, by the Delhi ACB last year. He was eventually released on bail in September 2022. The case was founded on a report that claimed Khan fraudulently hired 32 persons while serving as the chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board, going against all rules and regulations. Additionally, he was accused of corruption and favouritism in the complaint.
After AAP politician and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh was detained on Wednesday (October 4) by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor policy, the Enforcement Directorate conducted a raid at Khan’s home a few days later. After Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister, Singh is the second well-known figure to be detained in this case, dealing a severe blow to Delhi’s ruling AAP. Singh’s arrest has been referred to by the party as a “dictatorial step” by the Narendra Modi administration. Keep checking back with us for the most recent international news.
