Day 2 box office results for Mission Raniganj: After a sluggish start, the Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra movie experienced a huge increase on Saturday, earning Rs 4.70 crore. Mission Raniganj, a real-life thriller film starring Akshay Kumar, debuted on Friday to a Rs 2.8 crore opening weekend. The movie, which also features Parineeti Chopra, is based on the tragedy in a coal mine in West Bengal where 65 mine workers had to be rescued following a flood. The movie’s revenue increased significantly on Saturday, rising by over 69% to Rs 4.70 crore. The film directed by Tinu Suresh Desai now has a two-day total of Rs 7.5 crore.

However, the average occupancy rate in the Hindi market for Mission Raniganj was only 15.73%. Evening, afternoon, and morning shows, in contrast to night shows, experienced occupancy rates of 15.8, 13.5, and 10.13%, respectively. Mission Raniganj was released with the underperforming Thank You For Coming, which has taken in close to Rs 2.4 crore in just two days. On the other side, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is still drawing crowds, while Fukrey 3 from last week is also enjoying a happy reception.

Akshay Kumar has a history of producing blockbuster films, with most of them grossing at least Rs 100 crore. His most recent being Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi. One of the first films to be released during the COVID-19 pandemic was the cop-action movie, which generated Rs 120 crore and brought moviegoers back to theatres after more than a year. Since the release of his movie Bachchhan Paandey in 2022, the action star has been in a slump. Bollywood Hungama reports that the movie made Rs 49.98 crore during its whole span. Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, and Selfiee, among his later movies, brought in a combined total of Rs 68.05 crore, Rs 44.39 crore, Rs 71.87 crore, and Rs 16.85 crore, respectively.  However, Akshay’s most recent film, OMG 2, starring Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, was a box office success, earning Rs 150.17 crore.
