For nearly eighteen years, meteorologist Todd Yakoubian has been a familiar face on KATV Channel 7, and last week he announced his impending resignation from the network. On August 14, Yakoubian announced his departure in a video that was posted to Facebook and Twitter but omitted the date of his last day at the station. Barry Brandt, Melinda Mayo, and James Bryant, fellow Channel 7 meteorologists who Yakoubian referred to as “true professionals” and to whom he expressed his gratitude, are still working with the team. In 2005, Yakoubian transferred from Chattanooga, Tennessee’s WRCB-TV to the KATV staff.

His educational background consists of a broadcasting degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Mississippi State certificate in broadcast meteorology. He is also accredited by the American Meteorological Society as a broadcast meteorologist. Todd Yakoubian, a well-known meteorologist on KATV Channel 7, has announced his intention to leave the network after an extraordinary 18-year tenure. Todd conveyed his thanks in a moving Twitter video that was released shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Monday, saying, “Soon, I will be leaving KATV Channel 7 and I want to thank KATV for 18 wonderful years.” He expressed his strong connection to the people who had consistently tuned in by saying, “I feel like we have developed a link over the past two decades.

He received the prestigious Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology (CBM) from the American Meteorological Society in May 2008 in recognition of his great scholastic background, vast knowledge, and strong communication abilities.
