The much-awaited gangster movie ‘Salaar’ starring Prabhas, is creating waves in the entertainment industry even before its release. With almost two months to go until its worldwide release on September 28, 2023, expectations are skyrocketing, and also, trader circles and fans are predicting that ‘Salaar’ will shatter records in Indian cinema. In the latest development, with fierce competition among streaming platforms, it has been speculated that the digital rights for ‘Salaar’ are in high demand. With a popular OTT giant emerging as the likely winner, sources reveal that the ‘Salaar’ OTT deal is on the verge of being finalized. It is rumored that the OTT platform giant has obtained the streaming rights for the South and Hindi languages for a staggering amount of around Rs 200 crores.

What thing is interesting is that this deal has reportedly allowed the producers to recover a significant portion of their investment, accounting for approximately 80 to 90%. This indicates that any revenue generated from satellite rights and theatrical releases will now be pure profit, highlighting the tremendous amount of buzz surrounding ‘Salaar’. Director Prashant Neel known for his blockbuster films ‘KGF: Chapter 1’ and ‘KGF Chapter 2’, said that he promises ‘Salaar’ to be an action-packaged gangster entertainer. The teaser of ‘Salaar’, which was released on July 6, has already shattered records, amassing over 83 million views within just 24 hours. This achievement has secured its position as the most-viewed Indian movie trailer in a single day. Rumors are also doing the rounds that Prabhas is being paid a whopping amount of around Rs 100 crore for his role in the film. Additionally, it was also reported that the actor would receive a 10 percent share of the film’s box office collection. However, the makers are yet to confirm the news. The film will be released in five languages- Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil on September 28 respectively.
Adding to the craze and excitement, Prithviraj Sukumaran, a Malayalam star has been cast as the villain in ‘Salaar’, elevating the film’s star power. Jagapathi Babu and Shruti Haasan will play pivotal roles, while Varadaraja will portray the character of Mannar. The production company has announced that the highly-anticipated ‘Salaar’ trailer will be unveiled in August, to keep fans on their toes.
