Oakland Hills Robbery: Series of home invasions target Asian families

A series of home robberies took place in Oakland Hills. Oakland Hills Robbery

In police documents obtained by I-Team, one of the home invasions listed is an 80-year-old man and his 69-year-old wife who were carrying their two grandchildren were robbed by robbers. They broke into a second-floor window on Monday. The daughter of the old man told I-Team, “One man was downstairs with my parents, you know, keeping an eye on them, while the other one was upstairs, trying to get into our safe, ransacking, you know, our closet, our bedrooms, looking for valuables.”

Reportedly, the robber held the old man at gunpoint for around 40 minutes. I-Team’s Dan Noyes posted a photo of a robber targeting an old Asian man in his home after invading. He also wrote, “A small group of criminals has targeted approximately 50 homes in the Oakland Hills where Asian families live, mostly elderly couples, according to OPD internal advisory I’ve seen. The old man’s daughter said during this time my mother was trying to rush them out of the house by saying “‘Hey, you know, someone’s going to be home soon. My son-in-law is going to be home from work soon. So we need to hurry up and get what you need” The old woman also offered cash to the robbers for not hurting them.
