This year it will be the 69th edition of the iconic Nehru Trophy Boat Race. This historical event is taking place on Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha. Currently, arrangements are being made in full swing. Reports have suggested that a total of 72 boats will participate under nine categories in the 69th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. What are Nehru Trophy Boat Race timings? The 69th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race will take place on Saturday, 12 Aug 2023. According to District Collector Haritha V. Kumar, the event will kick start at 2 pm. However, the small boats competition will take place before the inauguration while the Snake Boat race is scheduled to take place after the inaugural function. Talking about the snake boat competition, there are five heats lined up in the competition. The competitions will take place under Churulan; Iruttu Kuthi ‘A’; Iruttu Kuthi ‘B’; Iruttu Kuthi ‘C’; Veppu ‘A’; Veppu ‘B’; Thekkanodi Thara; and Thekkanodi Kettu categories. The District Collector said that modern starting and photo-finish systems would be used in the regatta. The District Collector is also the chairperson of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race Society.
