According to our sources, Around 8:11 p.m., a Nissan was driving south on Georgia 122 when it hydroplaned, causing the driver to lose control of the car. According to GSP, the car began to rotate anticlockwise before swerving into the northbound lanes and colliding with a Kia being operated by a student from Cairo High School. According to GSP, Kia’s front end collided with the Nissan’s right rear passenger side, causing the driver to lose control and send the car into Georgia 112’s east ditch. Max Battensby, 24, and Montana Carroll, 18, the drivers of the Nissan and the Kia, respectively, died at the scene. The 20-year-old and 17-year-old Kia passengers, as well as the 24-year-old Nissan driver, were taken to the hospital to receive medical attention for their wounds.
