In a lengthy X post on Tuesday, Pirzada who has worked in the Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema industries stated that this kind of depiction “trivialises an important problem that many women across the globe are currently dealing with”. “In a scene from “Sultan of Delhi,” a vicious marital rape was shown. “The fact that a serious issue like marital rape has been characterized by many in the media as a sexual scene’ pains me,” the 27-year-old actress stated.

“It interferes with me that some parts of the media and people on the internet have picked up on this, and these individuals ought to recognize that they have sisters and daughters too and I pray for god they never have to go through such trauma in their own lives as just the thought of such acts of violence and brutality against women is repugnant,” she said. The series, which debuted on Disney+ Hotstar last week, stars Pirzada as Sanjana, the romantic interest of Arjun Bhatia, played by actor Tahir Raj Bhasin.
