In a recent turn of events, more than 100 people have been arrested for their involvement in riots over alleged blasphemy in Faisalabad’s Jaranwala during which members of the Christian community were targeted. The Punjab interim government’s spokesperson confirmed, in a statement said that the provincial government has also requested a high-level inquiry into the accident. Previously, the interim Punjab Information Minister, Amir Mir said that dozens of people who disturbed and interfered with peace in that area were detained. However, in a statement, the minister said that the violence in Jaranwala was done under a well-thought-out conspiracy. Reportedly, Mir said that there was a concrete plan to disturb the peace by inciting public sentiments after the desecration of the Holy Quran and added that the situation, at the moment is in a stable form.
Moreover, the Provincial info minister also said that the investigation into the tragic incident of the holy book is under observation at a fast pace by adding that anyone who tries to take the law into his hand would be arrested anytime soon. Reportedly, the security of the churches has been tightened and a large number of law enforces have deteriorated. It was revealed that more than 6,000 police officials and Rangers personnel are present in the areas that were affected. Furthermore, the minister shared that following the incident, no one was injured nor was there any loss of life. Mir went on to claim that the Punjab chief secretary and Inspector General of Punjab Police have reached Jaranwala at the request of Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, the caretaker. However, following the Jaranwala incident has cleaned up the Interim PM, Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar. Reportedly, on Wednesday, the PM directed law enforcement agencies to apprehend culprits behind the churches in Jaranwala, Faisalabad over blasphemy allegations. Moreover, he said that all law enforcement agencies have asked to apprehend culprits and bring them to justice. He added that the government of Pakistan stands with its citizenry on an equal basis. Furthermore, the former PM, Shehbaz Sharif also slammed the incident and expressed his sadness and grief over it. However, several social media posts showed some churches on fire as well as houses and belongings.
