The custard apple (Annona reticulata) is one of America’s best fruits. Custard apple is also known as sugar apple and dessert in most countries. However, after America, the largest cultivation is in the West Indies. It is also known as a wild fruit in India.

Now people are cultivating custard apple in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar, Odisha and Assam as well. It is also found in China, Philippines, Egypt and Central Africa. Custard apple blooms more in hot weather. The special thing is that it is known as Sitaphal in India.

Sitaphal trees are planted during monsoons. At the same time, proper care is also required in time for proper development of its plants. For the growth of healthy sitafal plants, weeding should be done from time to time to keep unwanted plants out of the field. You can also grow peas, beans and marigolds in the custard apple garden if you wish. This will give you additional benefits.

At the same time, one month after the fruit is harvested, the plants are sprayed with 1000 ppm Ethril, so that the leaves of the plants are raised and they can get equal air, water and sunlight. After that, just before flowering, the plants are sprayed with a solution of one milliliter of Biosil per liter of water. To reduce flower and fruit drop, spray 10 to 20 ppm NAA before flowering. Because foliar spray of GA increases fruit size and fruit shine.

Speaking of irrigation, custard apple is usually grown as a rainfed crop without irrigation. But irrigation should be done till normal monsoon starts. Due to this, the tree flowers and fruits quickly. At the same time mist spray or drip watering should be done on the tree for good fruit. Because it maintains a cool temperature.
