Salil Ankola was a big name in Maharashtra cricket. Salil’s name is in the list of fast bowlers. Salil started his international cricket career with Sachin Tendulkar. Salil Ankola made his debut in 1988–89 with a hat-trick against Gujarat and took 6 wickets against Baroda in the next match. Salil was included in the Indian team for the tour of Pakistan in 1989 after witnessing his outstanding performance. He played 1 Test match and 20 ODIs for Team India. However, he was dropped from the team due to injury and lack of form. Salil last played for India in 1997 against South Africa.
Started career in acting
Salil Ankola started his career in acting after not getting special recognition in the cricket world. Due to Salil’s excellent physique and personality, he kept getting offers for films and TV serials. Salli made her Bollywood debut with ‘Kurukshetra’ opposite Sanjay Dutt. After that he worked in ‘Pita’, ‘Chura Lea Hai Tumne’. Salil has worked in more than 25 serials including CID, Vihart India, Kora Kaggi. Salil was also seen in Bigg Boss in 2006.

Despite working in cricket and acting, the darkness of oblivion continued to spread in Salil’s life. In 2010, Salil’s life saw many ups and downs. He divorced his wife and became addicted to alcohol. For this he had to take the help of a rehabilitation center. However, coming out of this tough time, Salil re-entered the world of cricket and in 2020 he was selected as the selector of the Mumbai cricket team.
