Nationwide Road Safety Week being celebrated meanwhile TV 9 Network and Continental have jointly launched a road safety campaign. The objective of this campaign is to understand our responsibility and duty towards road safety. PKBnews Network Road to Safety Summit presented by Continental Tires was organized in which many dignitaries including Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Union Government participated.
Meanwhile, Rohit Baluja, president of Road Safety Education Institute, while talking about road safety, said that we are building roads, increasing vehicles, giving 3.5 lakh licenses every year, which is a very good thing. But no one is responsible for road safety here. The real issue is why these accidents are happening, we have to tell in the investigation. But is the test accurate? Today we need accountability and it should be defined.
What did Abhilash Thaplial say?
Earlier, Abhilash Thapliyal said there is a need to be strict about the rules. He said, I think our country runs with only two things, one with a flag and the other with a stick. When 10 invoices of Rs 5,000 are repeatedly deducted, it automatically gets in the mind of people not to cross this line. That is why there should be fear of the stick.
What did Nitin Gadkari say?
On the other hand, Nitin Gadkari said that all stakeholders should come forward to save the way road accidents are happening and people are dying. We are trying to reduce the number of accidents by 50 percent by 2024. This is a very difficult task and cannot be done without the cooperation of stakeholders.
Nitin Gadkari said in the conference, the situation is such that people have no fear or respect for the law. If the red light is on, stop. One should not talk on the phone while driving a scooter or car. These are such small things. Sometimes I think we should expose our department to the media. Although good work is done on roads, we are not getting as much success in road accidents. The main reason for this is the road infrastructure. Our days are very bad. There are black spots. So our first priority was to correct our mistakes. So far we have spent 30-35 thousand crore rupees on road repair.
