North Korea denies the weapons used by Hamas
Asserting that the accusation made in some media reports was an attempt by Washington to shift responsibility for the crisis from itself to a third country, North Korea denied on Friday that its weapons were used by Hamas in the strike against Israel. According to a report this week by Radio Free Asia, which cited military specialists, Hamas militants may be employing North Korean weapons. Video of Palestinian fighters was stated to have revealed what appeared to be a rocket launcher that was likely from the North. On Friday, the official news outlet of North Korea, KCNA, referred to rumours that Hamas militants had the country’s weapons as “groundless and false rumour(s)”.
“The US administration’s reptile press bodies and quasi-experts are spreading an unfounded and false allegation that ‘North Korea’s weapons’ seemed to be used for the attack on Israel,” it was stated by Reuters. Such claims, according to the news channel, were “an attempt to shift the blame” by what it referred to as “the empire of evil.” “It is nothing but a bid to shift the blame for the Middle East crisis caused by its wrong imperialist policy onto a third country and thus evade the international criticism centered around the empire of evil.”
John Kirby, a spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, stated on Thursday that he was unable to confirm the allegations regarding the origin of the rockets being utilized by Hamas. The Israel-Hamas conflict will not have an impact on the United States’ security policy elsewhere in the world, especially on the Korean peninsula, Kirby continued. Israel was cited earlier this week by the official media of North Korea as the cause of the carnage in Gaza. The United States is frequently held responsible by North Korea for bringing about the Korean Peninsula’s nuclear conflict.
