The deceased drummer identified as Jim Gordan was popular for his work with legendary artists such as Frank Zappa, Eric Clapton, and The Beach Boys. On Thursday, 16th March 2023, news broke that the legend drummer had passed away because of natural causes and at the time of passing he was 77 years old and was also in jail. Jim Gordon’s Cause of Death

As we already stated that he was the legendary drummer as well as co-writer of the iconic song titled “Layla” written by Eric Clapton. Sadly, his legacy was destroyed by the tragic end that engaged a murder conviction and the jail conviction. On Thursday, 16th March 2023, news broke that he has passed away. As per reports, the late drummer died because of natural causes while in jail. He had been serving a 16-year conviction for the killing of his mother named Osa Marie Gordon in the year 1983. The late drummer had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and he also had a history of mental health problems.

Apart from it, his illness had caused him to hear voices, which direct to his disastrous and senseless act of violence against his own mother. The murder conviction of Jim Gordon was the tragic end to the life of the talented musician. On 3rd June 1983 Jim assailed his mother with the use of a hammer, assassinating her immediately. He was afterward detained and charged with 1st-degree killing. At the time of his trial, his attorneys of Jim argued that he was not guilty by reason of mental illness. Though the jury finally, quoted his history of mental health problems.

In the spite of his tragic end, the late drummer was an influential and talented musician. He was one of the most in-demand session drummers in the 1960s and 1970s, playing the drummer with artists. Apart from it, the late drummer was also an active member of Derek and the Dominos. This band has released many hit albums and people really loved him, however, his crime has badly affected his image and he destroyed his musical career.
