Ethics committee has asked for login and location of Mahua Moitra

TMC MP Mahua Moitra has been the subject of an investigation by the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, which asked her to appear before the panel on October 31. The investigation started on Thursday. The committee heard from BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who had filed a complaint against Moitra, and attorney Jai Anant Dehadrai during the two-plus-hour discussion.

Later, reporters were informed by BJP MP and committee chairman Vinod Sonkar that Moitra had been invited to appear before the panel on October 31. According to him, the committee also made the decision to write to the Ministries of Home Affairs and Information Technology, sharing with them all correspondence and talks between Moitra, Dehadrai, and businessman Darshan Hiranandani.

The committee made this judgment on Thursday afternoon after hearing the oral testimony of Dehadrai and Dubey. Previously, Dubey had written two letters: one to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, pleading with him to look into the IP addresses of Moitra’s login credentials for the Lok Sabha to see if they had been accessed by someone else, and the other to Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla, claiming there were allegations that Moitra accepted bribes to protect the interest of the Hiranandani Group.

In an affidavit submitted to the Ethics Committee on October 19, Darshan Hiranandani, the CEO of the Hiranandani Group, stated that Moitra gave him her Parliament login credentials so he could “post the questions” immediately “on her behalf when required.”The draught of this letter was sent by the PMO, and he (Darshan) was forced to sign it,” Moitra added, branding the letter “a joke.” Darshan Hiranandani, who resides in Dubai, said in a three-page affidavit that Moitra “thought that the sole way to target Sh. Modi is by attacking Sh. Gautam Adani and his group both were peers, and they belong to the same state of Gujarat.” The affidavit was turned in to the committee and made public by the Hiranandani Group’s corporate communication team.
