WATCH: David Zaslav’s speech video, Boston University sparks student outcry

Being a political figure it is necessary to watch your words before giving any speech or statements. Without thinking or proofreading it is not fine to deliver a speech in public as your one wrong word or statement can bring you into the news. We often hear the news in which many celebrities and political figures became the reason for backlashes due to their statements. In fact, the account of some figures also get banned from social media but looks like still many of them are not taking lessons from it and delivering the speech without thinking.

On Sunday, 21st May 2023, President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zalsav took the stage at the graduation ceremony for Boston University in order to give his commencement address to the pupils. Though as he gave the speech, he was met with disapproval from a section of pupils who were surely not happy with his speech. Not only this but the protesting Boston University pupils were also saying “Pay your Writers”. A video related to this incident is making rounds on the web. People are sharing this video with each other and commenting on it. Due to that, this video has gone viral on social media.

Not only is University ground but he is also facing backlash from netizens. In the 30-second viral clip, Warner Bros. Discovery’s chief executive can be seen struggling to continue with his speech at BU as protestors raise their slogans. In the video, he can be heard stating that “If you want to get successful, you are going to need to find out how to get along with everyone and that includes difficult people.” He was not able to complete his speech and the protestors kept on chanting “Pay your Writers”. Now after watching this viral video, many people are sharing their opinion and comments on it.

Victor Shi, activist, speaker, and writer has also made a tweet regarding it. The youngest delegate for the President of the USA in 2020 states that “The youth know what is up and they are not afraid to make their voices heard.” People love the reaction of the students and praise them for their strong voices against him. The chants raised at BU, at the time of the speech of David were in response to the ongoing strike of the Writers Guild of America. Hence, understandably, most users of Twitter have shared their reactions with overwhelmingly positive replies.
