Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav tweeted, “Saddened by the untimely death of Mandal Messiah, veteran RJD leader, great socialist leader and my guardian Reverend Sharad Yadav Ji. I am unable to say anything. Talked to mother and brother Shantanu. The entire Samajwadi family is with the family members in this difficult time. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled the death of veteran socialist leader Sharad Yadav. In a tweet, Modi said, ‘I am saddened by the death of Sharad Yadav. He has long distinguished himself in public life as a Member of Parliament and Minister. He was inspired by the ideals of Dr. Lohia. I will always cherish our conversation. My condolences to his family and fans.
Strengthened the politics of equality
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge tweeted, “Saddened by the death of the veteran leader of the country’s socialist line, former JD(U) president Sharad Yadav.” He said, ‘Having served the country as a former Union Minister and an outstanding Member of Parliament for decades, he strengthened the politics of equality. My deepest condolences to his family and supporters.

Bihar will not forget Sharad’s contribution
It is worth noting that Sharad Yadav contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on an RJD ticket from Madhepura in Bihar. He won four elections from this seat. In the assembly elections held a year later, his daughter Subashini Yadav was the RJD candidate from Biharganj. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi tweeted, ‘Sharad Yadav was my political mentor. He was instrumental in my appointment as Deputy Chief Minister. Bihar will not forget his contribution.
Political life of Sharad Yadav
Sharad Yadav was a long-time leader of the Janata Dal United (JDU). Yadav was reportedly apprehensive about the JDU’s decision to sever ties with the BJP in 2013. Yadav rebelled against Nitish Kumar’s decision to rejoin the BJP after four years in 2017, which resulted in his disqualification from the Rajya Sabha.
