School closed till January 15
Due to the outbreak of cold wave in national capital Delhi, winter vacation in private schools has been extended till January 15. The Delhi government’s Department of Education (DOE) issued a circular giving this information. Private schools in Delhi were scheduled to open on January 9 after the winter break. Also, in view of the harsh winter, ongoing remedial classes in Delhi government schools have also been ordered to be closed. However, for the session 2022-23, practical examination, project evaluation and internal assessment of class 10th and 12th will continue as per schedule.
480 trains disrupted
Dense fog blanketed northern and eastern parts of the country on Sunday, disrupting 480 train services. A cold wave continues over the plains, including Delhi, where the minimum temperature touched 1.9 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Delhi remained lower than most parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the fourth consecutive day.
335 trains late, 88 cancelled
As many as 335 trains were running late, 88 were cancelled, 31 were diverted and 33 were stopped briefly due to fog, a railway official said. Passengers are advised to contact the respective airlines for updated flight information. Officials said around 25 flights were delayed on Sunday morning.
