Reportedly, a Bryanston mansion linked to controversial businessman, Hamilton Ndlovu has been accused of PPE corruption and has now been sold on auction for Rs 7.1 million after the North Gauteng High Court has dismissed an application to prevent the auction sale. Moreover, the companies are linked to Ndlovu who scored PPE tenders to the tune of R172 million from the National Health Laboratory Services. Reportedly, the Special Tribunal was set beyond the contracts and ordered that Ndlovu and other involved companies must pay back R158 million with the required interest.
According to sources, the Special Investigation Unit has welcomed the ruling which prevented an application by the Zaisan Khaihatsu Pvt. Ltd whose sole director is Nokuthula Mokoena, a woman linked to Ndlovu. However, the case was dismissed with costs acquired. Apart from this, the SIU and the National Health Laboratory Services had accepted an offer of R7.1 million for the Bryansston home as a part of the investigation. However, the outcomes and consequences must recover the losses suffered by NHLS and the general public. In January, the SIU spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago said that the luxury house was auctioned in July after a final order by the Special Tribunal.
He added that companies linked to Ndlovu were awarded contracts by abusing the emergency procedures that the NHLS adopted to respond to the COVID-19 disaster during the first half of 2020. It was revealed that the SIU gained and checked the bank statements of Ndlovu’s front companies and other people linked to them. However, in terms of Proclamation R23 of 2020, the SIU was organized by President Cyril Ramaphosa in order to investigate allegations of corruption, malpractice, and other offenses in obtaining goods and services by State institutions in response to Covid 19. Reportedly, according to analysis, it shows that apart from an amount of about R15 million that appears to have been used for the purchase of PPE, the funds gained from the NHLS were not used to obtain supplies of PPE to deliver the contracts to the NHLS.
