The film, which reportedly cost Rs 500 crore, also prominently features Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage. Shubhra Gupta, a film critic, scored the movie 2.5 out of 5 stars. There was a line in the review that said, “You see Saif Ali Khan’s Lankesh tossing that one off, and it is a clue that Om Raut’s version of ‘Ramayana’ will be a sequence of clumsy computer visuals, soaked in Bollywood. This movie, which runs for almost three hours, is just that.

A promotional poster published on August 18, 2020, announced the release of the Ramayana adaption Adipurush. Under the direction of Om Raut, who previously oversaw the historical action movie Tanhaji (2020), Prabhas plays Lord Rama. Om Raut was inspired to convert the Ramayana into a movie utilizing contemporary technologies after watching the 1992 Japanese film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama. In the midst of India’s COVID-19 lockdown, Raut composed the script.

As soon as Prabhas saw the project, he liked it, and T-Series Films agreed to produce it. Adipurush had a budget of 500 crores (US$63 million), making it one of the most costly Indian films ever made. The cost of the visual effects is expected to be 250 crores (US$31 million). The initial budget was projected to be Rs. 400 crore (about $50 million). However, the budget was upped to 500 crores (US$63 million) to strengthen and enhance the visual effects, CGI, lighting, and color grading after the intense criticism of the visual effects and CGI in the movie’s trailer. It was simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi, and it was also shot in 3D.

On January 19, 2021, the motion capture shoot for Adipurush started. On February 2, 2021, Muhurtam was fired, and the official launch took place in Mumbai, India. The movie’s main photography started on that day, according to the creators. On the same day, a significant fire accident occurred at the Mumbai location used for filming. Due to the fire outbreak, duplicate sets were constructed in the same manner. The filming was completed by Khan and Sanon in October 2021. The filming was finished on November 10, 2021.
