632 crore worth of drugs will be destroyed in front of Amit Shah, NCB has achieved the target ahead of time

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a high-level meeting with several Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers and officials in Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar this evening. According to information, the meeting will be presided over by the Home Minister, based on several important issues related to regional security. Drugs worth Tk 632 crore 68 lakh will be destroyed today in Shah’s presence.
Home Minister Amit Shah will address a meeting on ‘Drug Trafficking and National Security’ in Gandhinagar at 5 pm. Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers and administrators of Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu can attend the meeting with the Home Minister. It will discuss security and preparedness of states in western and central states and Union Territories.
Narcotics will be destroyed
Continuing the fight against drug trafficking, a total of 12,438.96 kg of drugs worth Rs 632.68 crore will be destroyed in the presence of Shah and other special guests. Two weeks ago, 40,000 kg worth of drugs and narcotics were destroyed in the presence of Amit Shah in the northeastern state of Guwahati.
The target was achieved ahead of time
In the 75th year of India’s independence, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) created a special mission for 75 days to destroy at least 75,000 kg of seized drugs. This target was achieved well within 60 days. So far more than one lakh kg of drugs and narcotics have been destroyed. The Union Home Minister launched the mission on July 30 this year in Chandigarh by pressing a button to destroy more than 31000 kg of narcotics.
Meeting in Saurashtra
A day earlier, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah held a meeting with party leaders from the Saurashtra region to chalk out a strategy for the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat. The meeting, which lasted for several hours at the Marketing Yard building in Veraval in Gir Somnath district, focused on the BJP’s efforts to avoid the poor performance of 2017 in the region, party sources said. 48 of the 182 seats in the Gujarat Assembly come from the Saurashtra region. Sources said that the meeting was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, state BJP president CR Patil, present and former elected representatives of the party from the region, office-bearers and senior leaders.
